This compulsory educational stage is organised into:

First cycle: Year 1 – Year 2 (ages 6 to 8)
Second cycle: Year 3 – Year 4 (ages 8 to 10)
Third cycle: Year 5 – Year 6 (ages 10 to 12)

Primary Education is an important stage in the development of children. Here, they will learn the basics for their future, as well as developing their creativity and artistic expression.

At our school, we believe that Primary Education is a fundamental stage for the development of pupils as well-rounded individuals.

General objectives of Primary Education

  • Appreciate the values and rules of coexistence, learn to act in accordance with them, prepare for the active exercise of citizenship, and respect human rights, as well as the human pluralism of a democratic society.
  • Develop habits of individual and team work, effort and responsibility in study, as well as attitudes of self-confidence, critical thinking, personal initiative, curiosity, interest, and creativity in learning.
  • Acquire skills for the prevention and peaceful resolution of conflicts.
  • Know, respect, and understand the different cultures and differences between people, and the equality of rights and opportunities for men and women.
  • Know and use the Spanish language appropriately, and develop habits and a taste for reading and writing as tools.
  • Acquire basic communicative competence in at least one foreign language that allows them to express and understand simple messages and manage in everyday situations.
  • Develop basic mathematical competences and begin to solve problems that require elementary calculation operations, geometric knowledge and estimations, as well as being able to apply them to everyday life situations.
  • Know and appreciate, through observation and action and by adopting an investigative attitude, the basic features of the natural, social, cultural, historical, and artistic heritage of the Community of Castilla-La Mancha, the Spanish state, and the European Union.
  • Begin to use information and communication technologies for learning and interpersonal communication, developing a critical spirit.
  • Use different means of artistic representation and expression, and begin to construct visual projects.
  • Value hygiene and health, accept one’s own body and that of others, respect differences, and use physical education and sport as means to promote personal and social development.
  • Know and value the animals closest to human beings and adopt behaviours that encourage their care.
  • Develop their emotional capacities in all areas of personality and in their relationships with others.
  • Promote road safety education and respectful attitudes that contribute to the prevention of traffic accidents.
