At our school, we believe that Secondary Education (ESO) is a fundamental stage for the development of pupils as autonomous and responsible individuals.
During this educational stage, we prepare pupils for the future. At this stage, pupils acquire the knowledge and skills they need to become autonomous and responsible citizens.
This educational stage is divided into two cycles:
- First cycle: Year 7 – Year 8
- Second cycle: Year 9 – Year 10
General objectives of Secondary Education
- Take on their duties responsibly, know and exercise their rights while respecting others, practise tolerance, cooperation, and solidarity among individuals and groups, engage in dialogue, and strengthen human rights.
- Develop and consolidate habits of discipline, study, and individual and group work as a necessary condition for the effective completion of learning tasks and as a means of personal development.
- Value and respect gender differences and equality of rights and opportunities between men and women, rejecting discriminatory stereotypes.
- Strengthen their emotional capacities in all areas of personality and interpersonal relationships, as well as rejecting violence and prejudice of any kind.
- Develop basic skills in the use of information sources to acquire new knowledge with critical awareness, and gain basic preparation in the field of technology, especially information and communication technologies.
- Understand scientific knowledge as an integrated body of learning structured into different disciplines.
- Develop an entrepreneurial spirit and self-confidence, participation, critical thinking, personal initiative, and the ability to learn, plan, make decisions, and take on responsibilities.
- Understand and express themselves correctly, orally and in writing, in the Spanish language, produce complex texts and messages, begin the study of literature, and develop a taste for reading.
- Understand and express themselves appropriately in one or more foreign languages in communicative situations, and develop attitudes of interest and respect towards linguistic diversity.
- Know, value, and respect the basic aspects of their own culture and history and those of others, as well as artistic and cultural heritage.
Know and accept the functioning of their own body and that of others, respect differences, strengthen habits of bodily care and health, and incorporate physical education and sport as means to foster personal and social development. - Critically assess social habits related to health, quality of life, and responsible and sustainable consumption.
Know and adopt the principles of sustainable development and its impact, critically assess the use of the natural environment, and acquire habits of environmental care. - Appreciate artistic creation and understand the language of different artistic expressions.
Acquire basic preparation for professional integration and apply the knowledge gained as guidance for future academic and professional integration.
